Hey ladies and gents,
I was in a book hangover there for about a week. However, this book was able to help me out. I was originally told that this book was not Ali's best work. However, in my opinion it was pretty good. For some reason my choice in book boy's is kind of changing. Not in a way I dislike just in a way I did not expect.
Let's get into it shall we.
This whole book is told through Bees perspective. I really enjoy this and have missed books like this. It gives the reader the impression that they are falling in love with the other character at the same time as the main character does.
This book is a story about two scientists who went to grad school together. Levi was a few years ahead of Bee. During the year that they spend together all evidence points towards Levi disliking Bee.
Bee is a neuroscientist. After grad school she gave up what would have been a wonderful job because her ex-fiancé. He had also been offered a job at the same lab. Due to this Bee has a struggling career until she gets a contracted job as a co-lead for a NASA experiment.
Once Bee learns that Levi, her old nemesis from grad school would be the other co-lead she is less than thrilled. While the job is essentially a dream come true, she is concerned how things will go with Levi. As expected, the whole thing gets off to a rocky start when Levi refuses to respond to any of her emails regarding the project before she moves.

Bee and Levi's first meeting as coworkers is a disaster. Bee sees a cat, however, the cat hops onto a pile of equipment that starts to fall on Bee. At the last minute, Levi is able to pull her out of the way. This sounds fantastic and all. However, Bee passes out after the incident due to shock.

After the accidental meeting Bee and Levi have a complicated working relationship. While Bee keeps sending Levi emails, he never responds. Bee's equipment does not arrive for multiple weeks, and important files for the project go missing.
After all these complications they realize NASA is sabotaging them. After Bee and Levi have a conversation about this and Levi saves her from a cemetery at night they fall into a truce. Slowly but surely, they become friendly towards each other. Over late nights, sharing snacks they even start to become friends and then something more.
Once Bee and Levi start working well together the project progresses along nicely. They even spend get along well enough to go on a work mission together to see how far along the competition is without arguing.
Unfortunately, during the test ran in front of all the directors and a lot of other important people, the astronaut passes out. Because of this NASA fires Bee and the astronaut is sent to the hospital.
That night Levi stops by to try and convince her to stay or let him fallow her. She turns him down and as a parting gift her gives her a thumb drive. On the thumb drive is evidence of the cat that they had been debating's existence. Along with admitting to the cat's existence there is also evidence of someone tampering with Bee's laptop.

When Bee goes to look at her laptop, she runs into the astronaut who she put in the hospital. Turns out he had been sabotaging the whole project from the start. Levi turns up just in time to save Bee from him. With all right in the world Bee and Levi work things out personally and professionally are able to get the helmets working.
I thought this book was really good. Like I said, I had been in a book hangover. That being said, I also don't think I did this book justice. The plot was good, the characters where good and even though I saw the plot twist coming it still had its surprise components. I have also realized something about my choice in book boyfriends. Evidently, I also like the whole morally grey and sweet. Yep, throw sweet on my list now and call me screwed. In all, I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone.
Sincerely,
Harper
