Book Nine: Twisted Lies by Ana Huang

Hey ladies and gents,

I am on the last one. This one gives me a little bit of mixed feelings. Mr. Harper, I feel like that kind of sums it up. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, way too much if you ask me. However, he does have his problems. I also don't overly care for Stella. I do realize that we are a lot alike, she has a crazy family and feels like everything is a competition that drives them all apart. However, she also seems to care a lot about the number of followers she has. I realize that it's essentially her job (she is an influencer) but it's just a preference of mine that differs from hers. Next black mark against her is that she is a crystal girly, not something that I care for in the slightest. Clearly, I read the book anyways though (lol).

To start out, I knew that Christian was the one that was going to end up with Stella from the second that we meet him in Twisted Hate, also by Ana Huang.

When Stella decides she needs a fake boyfriend to up her followers and raise her chances to get a big brand sponsorship, Christian offers his services. Now while this must have been exciting and incredibly helpful. I myself would have felt weird excepting his offer because he was Stella's landlord.

A little while into the fake relationship Stella's stalker makes a reappearance. This freaks Stella out, but she does not move into Christian's apartment until the stalker breaks into her apartment. At this time she has been fired from her job with a magazine and is relying solely on the income she gets from her Instagram. This makes it easier for her to avoid going out and running into her stalker.

After getting the brand sponsorship that she wanted and going to Hawaii for one of the photoshoots Stella and Christian decide to make their fake relationship real.

However, Stella's stalker is not happy that she has a boyfriend and starts sending Christian letters as well.

Due to this Christian takes Stella on a vacation to Italy.  During their time in Italy Christian is trying to find the mole in his own company that let Stella's stalker into his apartment building. As well as deal with his rival company that is steeling the tech he developed. When they get back from Italy, Christian has a few suspects, and a plan has been set in motion.

One day Stella cleans the apartment and notices multiple folders about her life in his desk (creepy). Due to finding this she thinks he is the stalker and leaves (I would definitely do the same thing). When Christian comes back and sees the binders on his desk and Stella gone, he goes to Alex and Ava's house to talk to her. She sends him away in tears reminding him that one of the things that meant most to her was her privacy. Even though he had completed the folders before he knew this it was still creepy and a breach of her personally privacy.

Christian writes Stella a letter every single night while they are broken up and puts them in the desk where the folders had been before he burnt them. He throws himself into work and is able to root out the mole. On the same day that Christian goes to deal with the mole, Stella gets kidnaped. Rather than draw out his meeting with the mole (this had been his original plan) Christian immediately goes to find Stella. It is lucky that he answered the phone call while in the middle of a shootout.

Christian is able to get there just in time to save Stella from the stalker. Afterwards Stella stays in his apartment while he deals with the stalker. During the time that he is gone, she reads all the letters that he wrote and decides that she is ready to forgive him for having the files on her.

The end of the book shows the whole group together while on a Christmas vacation. Ava and Alex had a couple of kiddos, Bridget and Rhys have a daughter, Jules and Josh have a kid while Stella choses this time to tell Christian that she is pregnant. The very last epilogue of the book is in Christian's point of view after Stella gives birth to their little one. I really enjoyed seeing this time through his eyes. We get to see how much he has changed and how his view on the world and family has gotten exceptionally better.

Sincerely,

Harper
