Hey ladies and Gents,
So, I have been working my way through the twisted series recently, as you may have noticed. Now, up to this point in time, I have not overly enjoyed or cared for Jules. However, this book gives us a good insight on who she is as a person rather than just as a side character.
I still don't really like Jules but now I understand some of her past a bit better. She had a hard time growing up, her mom seemed to be in constant competition with her due to appearances. This would cause some major self-esteem issues as well as a constant wanting for approval. Jules's mom would put her down so that she herself could feel better. Now, I don't know how many of you have daughters yourselves, but to me that's one of the worst things you could do to your own daughter. Due to all of this I can understand a lot of Jules's actions that previously bothered me.

I am not saying that I am a huge fan now, but I am saying that she is more of an understandable character.
Now, on to Josh. I don't like the guy. I think that he is a jerk who mentally abused Jules himself. Josh Chen is a cocky ER doctor in his residency and, if you remember Ava's brother and Alex's ex best friend (its complicated).
Josh's dad tried to kill Ava multiple times and blamed it on their mother. While he has been sentenced to life in prison, he sends letters to Josh. Alex and Josh where roommates and best friend till Josh learns that Alex only hung out with him so that he could kill Joshes father. In the end everything works out except for Josh and Alex's friendship. Which is understandable, imagine your best friend only wanted to be friends to kill your dad (even if he sucks, that terrible).

Jules and Josh don't get along at all, this is definitely an enemies to lovers trope. However, when they start to work at the same hospital Josh proposes a truce. A few weeks later when on a ski trip with Ava and Alex they start to find each other attractive.
While both are bothered with this Josh proposes a friends with benefits situation. Due to this they see each other more frequently and the feelings start to grow into more and they decide to make it real.
Then a person from Jules's past shows up blackmailing her into stealing an old painting. The painting happens to be the one in Josh's room. Jules is too scared to tell Josh about her past so instead, she decides to steal the painting from him and makes it look like a break in. Before taking the painting though Jules works out a deal with Mr. Harper.

Mr. Harper is her landlord and owns a security firm. With his help Jules is able to get the painting back and then decides to tell Josh about her past as a thief when she returns the painting (How else did she think she would be able to get the painting to him?).
After finding out that Jules used to be a thief, stolen from him and lied (that one gets him the most) Josh is pissed with Jules. He says he forgives her, then essentially uses sex as a weapon, tells her he lied and that was all she was good for breaks up with her.
During their time apart Josh talks to Alex, realizes that he is in love with Jules and wants her back. They end up together in the end and happy.
Due to the things that Josh does I would not have been able to forgive him. I love Alex and Rhys. They both have their own problems, but they never went to this extreme. I don't really know where Josh came from. He uses his relationship with Jules almost like a weapon when he breaks up with Jules. So, while going into this not minding Josh, I came out disliking him the most so far. I realize that Ana could not have all the men in this series be the same, however, I don't think that Josh deserves the title of man.
Anyways, that's just my thoughts, to those of you who liked the book good on you. We will just have to agree to disagree.
Sincerely,
Harper
