Hey ladies and gents,
So, I know I said I was gonna finish the Never After Novels series. However, the other night I just didn't want to read with the lights on. So, I did what all sane people do and started reading a book on my phone. This was not one of my best moments, there is no need to rub it in.
Anyways, I started reading Dirty Curve by Meagan Brandy. This is a baseball college romance. I myself don't care for the sport at all, but baseball boys, so hot. So, moving on (slight blush). I usually avoid college romances too because all the partying that inevitably happens. However, not a lot of partying happens in this book. While there is a little it is not to the extent that most are which was incredibly superb. I am also not a fan of pregnancy tropes because the relationships just feel forced. However, Meagan skips that part and Meyer has already had a little girl.

I personally try to keep my book covers as discreet as possible. I know, in this case the cover is a little scandalous, however, the book is worth it.
I Personally love a good book where the guy falls first or gives in to his feelings first. This book contains both. Now, I realize I didn't hype up James as much as I am Tobies. That's just because I love him so much. Which is incredibly biased, but Tobias is absolutely worth it.
Tobias is a Golden Retriever boy who acts like a bad boy, simply because that's what people expect from him. I don't think it's the best way he could deal with problems. But who am I to judge a heart broken kid? Even though Tobies is a complete Golden Retriever he was totally okay punching the guy talking to Meyer (turns out he's her brother, Hehe). Which makes him the perfect mix of a good boy and a bad boy, in my opinion. Anyways, they meet because he needs help with his Anatomy class and then slowly realizes he likes her.

Meyer is more guarded, which makes since. I wouldn't want to except just anyone into my life if I had a baby girl either. Her baby daddy was not a good guy. I am proud of myself because I was able to call the baby daddy from the beginning of the book. While Meagan did make me second guess myself for a few moments, in the end I was correct.
I really liked this book because we could see the character development in Tobies. We got to watch him go from the Playboy Pitcher to the golden boy of the Marlins, as well as the wonderful father figure Bailey disserved. While we see that in Tobies, we get to see Meyer open up and slowly become a young adult again. In the beginning Meyer is closed off and a lot older in the ways of the world than any young woman her age should be. I mean to be one-hundred percent honest I completely understand, she has a little girl to take care of. However, towards the end of the book she is able to have fun with Tobies and just seems more relaxed.

Meagan had me there for a few chapters though, Tobies and Meyer break up which sends Tobies on a little bit of a bender and Meyer feels terrible. During this time, we learn more about Meyers situation until Tobies comes back and essentially begs Meyer to tell him she doesn't love him. Meyer broke up with him out of nowhere so it's only reasonable for him to be confused. However, Meyer still loves him, and the truth ends up coming out. Due to Bailey's biological father Meyer and Tobies are unable to be together (Bailey's Father holds her custody over Meyer).
This was really sad; I love it when the characters can get the happily ever after that they deserve. In this case it was a lose-lose situation, both where heart-broken but could not be together or they would lose Bailey. So, while breaking up was a heart-breaking experience, Meyer had to so she could keep Bailey.
In the end, after Tobies wins the NCAA World Cup, he is able to hire a lawyer to draft up all the legal documents to he can free Meyer and Bailey from the baby daddy (I refuse to spoil the surprise for you). Tobies is able to surprise them while they are on vacation in Hawaii, which just gives the whole book the perfect fairy tale ending that these three deserved.
Even though Bailey was not biologically Tobises, he treats her like his own (Bailey is a total Daddy's Girl). In the end Meyer tells Tobies that she is pregnant, I think his reaction helps make up for how her first pregnancy announcement went.
Sincerely,
Harper
